Snoopervision

Jennifer came for the weekend!!!! Thank goodness. It's great to be with girlfriends again. They have a way of fixing things. Poor thing had to deal with me being on duty. Friday night they call converged on my house for brownies and veggie tales. Saturday morning we were woken up every 5 minutes from 6:30 on pretty much for phone calls on the Dean's Cell. Sabbath afternoon was not much help catching up on sleep either cause the same thing happened. But she put up with it all. And well the girls fell in love with her.
Saturday night I was on supervision for bowling. I have never bowled so terribly in my life.

My girls....
Dean Josh who was bowling triple strikes... disgusting really.
Tiffany... How DO you always end up with the boys...
More candids...

And again...
Add Mr. Bradley. he's very fun to bowl with actually. He's quite the dancer.

Cursed...

I had a couple days where I was...mostly... off before I went on deaning duty for a week, so Rosa and I went up on the Parkway. I love it up there. Which is a good thing because after this excursion, added to the last, I'm getting a little annoyed with the place. I was looking up hiking spots on line and found one that said it had the best panoramic view in NC, so that's where we went. We set off on this trail that went straight up for forever. When we thought we'd reached near the top... yeah we hadn't cause you couldn't see anything so we kept going, but this time down, and you know where we ended up? another parking spot on the parkway!!!! I WALKED TO A PARKING LOT! Why do they even make that kind of trail? I was pretty annoyed cause it wasn't even that great of a trail considering it was straight up!

Ok so the view from the parking lot was nice... But did I mention that the trail was straight up??? and I COULD HAVE JUST DRIVEN THERE! *shakes head*

Not that I'm opposed to hiking. That's what I went to do! But I'm all for hiking to a destination. Hiking with a purpose.

This is my housemate Rosa... just in case you didn't know.

Two can play this game!

A couple weekends ago I took a trip to Collegedale only to return and find that my house had been decorated in bright neon signs. To explain, a coupld of the RA's had shown me and Dean Sharon a video on YouTube that well, neither of us liked much and so every time they see it they quote it just to annoy me. The main quote being "what what." So anyway, since they are all gone on break I got them back...

Destination...Bible Conference

This Wednesday started September Break and also, for a few of us, Bible Conference at Indian Creek Camp in TN.
We took 13 kids. Most of them were pastors of a class or SA etc.
Moving in... The cabins there are almost too nice. The outside looks like a house.
Joy and Katie attacked me while I was trying to get some sleep. Didn't think one hour time difference would make such a difference but I was exhausted. Ok well the fact that the girls were up talking and laughing into all hours of the nigtht might also have had something to do with it. But they were having fun so I learned to sleep through it.

I'd forgotten how much highschool girls primp! They spent SO much time in here it was amazing.
All dressed up Sabbath morning. Please excuse some of those out of dress code. They were noticed rather quickly during picture taking and dealt with. If there is one thing I HATE about my job, that's it. The girls seemed to think that since they were on a trip normal dress code did not apply. I spent a good part of every day and a lot of energy on that. Makes me grumpy. It also didn't help that some of these schools obviously have NO dress code. There were girls running around in pretty much nothing.

Church... Our speaker was Carl Wilkins. He was, I believe, the only American to stay in Rwanda during the masacre. He told some pretty terrible storries. From what he says the movie was pretty correct. He knew some of those people that were in the movie and was in the hotel the day before it was stormed I think.

This place was gorgeous. Especially the lake. I wish I could have take pictures of it when we went cliff jumping but I didn't trust taking my camera in a canoe. Turned out I was smart.

Taking pictures before heading home.

First boating day of my summer...

Landon invited the group all back to his house for some boating etc. It was very much like our Senior free day 2 years ago. Except with less people. Everybody has gone their own ways now so it's much harder to get together. Especially when some of them are over seas. Sunday night we played pool and then spent the night and part of the early morning playing Sardines...

If you don't know what that is it's basically hide-and-seek backwards and in the dark. One person hides and then everybody else has to find them and then get in that spot with them. Hence the name Sardines. You have to play with people you like pretty well, otherwise everybody hiding in a bath tub isn't so pleasant. Landon's house is in the country so it gets pitch black making it even more fun. I think it's currently my favorite game...
This particular time Caleb chose a very small spot and everybody was crammed in waiting for Landon...5 minutes later we all realized that Landon was and had been there for quite awhile so we had all just been smooshed in for nothing.
The Kurti's boat broke down on Sunday before we got there so we had to rent a pontoon but still had quite a bit of fun.
This lake has got to be one of my favorites. The water is very clean and it's up in the mountains. Do you see how low it is right now tho? the water should be at the tree line.
It was a perfect day, and the water was the perfect temperature. Bobby was getting a little too comfortable so...
Caleb and I attacked...
Flipped him....
And conquered.
Playing under the boat.
tubing

A few stunts...

Driving, not so exciting on pontoon. And good grief I wish they came with power steering. :)
Lunch

You know I'll admit I was a little worried about the trip. We've all changed so much since high school and are running in very different circles but when we all came back together we immediately clicked, right back to where we'd left off. It's good to have friends like that.

Dean Stephanie, the Three Guinea Pigs, and the Trip of the Tunnels.

Saturday I decided I'd take some girls hiking so they could get out of the dorm. Three were brave enough to come along. Seeing as I have never really driven around these parts I am slowly trying to remember where everything is. So I told them that they were all guinea pigs because I they had to go through me driving all over the place trying to remember.

We hit the Blueridge Parkway eventually and pretty much had more fun in the car then actually hiking. There are tons of tunnels and the girls absolutely could not make it through any of them holding their breath the entire way.

We stopped at Mt. Pisgah (the actual mountain) and took a random path that turned out to take us to the top of a tunnel so we sat and waved at people. It was rather fun.

Mandy wanted to find this place where she knew we could go swimming and it took us a good half hour to find it... Ken Coonley was there with his Grandson and son-in-law too. The girls took a very quick plunge because it was extremely cold. The outside air wasn't even that warm either.

So anyway, that was the trip in short. Next time I'll know a few good places to go...and maybe I'll have to learn to drive the shuttle on the parkway... wooohooo.
