Back "Home" Again

After a very long week of work I got a lovely four day weekend off.

Thursday night Lori, Sarah, Grace and I all had somewhat of a going away party for Grace (who is leaving me next or this...not sure... week!!!) It was truly sad I must tell you. You know my diet, Lori is on a much stricter one, and Grace had just had her wisdom teeth out. So for potatoes for instance, Sarah and I had cut boiled and seasoned, Lori had cut boiled and unseasoned, and Grace had mashed and seasoned. We became very good short order cooks. Sorry I don't have any pictures of that. My camera's batteries were dead and since it was a quick thing didn't get the chance to charge them...

Then later Jenn showed up at my house and Grace came over and they spent the night at my apartment. This was all while I was still on duty so we had fun walking up and down the halls meeting the girls, and they thought it was just great to meet my friends. Who would have thought that we would all be sitting in the dean's office like that? We had a great time. I do have pictures of that but they are at home and I am currently in Collegedale.

I arrived at about 2 on Friday. Jaclyn and I went to PF Changs for lunch. They have a gluten free menu GOD BLESS THEM!!! and I found a really amazingly good dish that I shall now always order. It was better then Jaclyn's normal one. Do you know how often that happens? NEVER!

Then we went for Marble Slab ice cream and to see "No Reservations" which was very well done we both thought. Upon exiting we found it pouring raining. Jaclyn was very excited since it has apparently been a waste land here. The only problem was that she had to go get the car. (hey I offered) We both remembered the car to be in a different location then it was so she spent some time in the opposite side of the parking lot, when the car was two parking spaces away from where I was standing waiting.

The end result was a drenched Jaclyn. Here she's a tad more dry.
Sabbath, Ryan came over for breakfast and Jaclyn pulled out the camera.
Taking pictures with him around becomes almost impossible because you CAN'T stop laughing!

Due to the move the Heilmans have been going through and cleaning out. So we got to have some fun with the old toys that we used to play with.
We even found Ryan's favorite story that he used to be able to quote word for word.

Two more days and 50 more people to see. SO many people live here. It's like marathon visiting. But have I ever mentioned how much I love this place???

First Appartment

I'M FINALLY DONE! WAHOO! So here's a few pictures of the place. It's not the grandest but I feel rather privaledged.
Grandpa Musgrave made this table with his own two hands. I love it. I've gotten a lot of hand-me-downs from him which has been very nice. I can't thank the Musgraves enough. That microwave I got from them also along with mixing bowls, pots and pans, serving spoons, ladles, silverware...
The couch, two magazine holders beside the couch that you can't see, and the table are all from them also. The entertainment center was in the dorm, along with the TV and cable! To my right is a door that leads to the computer room and into the dorm. Out that front door is the parking lot for the dorm. One thing I love about this place is that closets it has. 6 total, and some of them are pretty large.
The Bathroom... Nothing too special here.
The bedroom. I haven't gotten completely done in here. Behind me is a closet and a dresser... Nothing to exciting. It's been nice to have my old high school bedspread out again. It has two nice windows, so I get a lot of light. It's on the front side near the parking lot so it's a little bit louder but it hasn't bothered me yet. We'll see what happens when the girls actually get here.

The RA's all came to my house for lunch Thursday. They're a great bunch. I'm really learning to love them. I think I'm gonna like this job. Despite the phone calls at crazy hours, this is a great age, immaturity included. Last night they were up til 2 or 5 depending on who you talk to, working on a movie to show the girls the rules. I helped them til about 12 and got so involved that I have a few bruises to show for it. Running into couches on bikes is not a good idea. But anything for them, or at least that's what I'm telling myself.
If the Queen has the Royal Standard, this is the Dean's Standard. I hate this cursed phone and it's only the first week.

So anyway, that's the place. Ya'll come visit yah hear?

This Dean's quite busy.

I'm really not sure why I'm taking the time to do this instead of taking a shower but... well I am. You know that just absolutely, brain tired, body aching, exhaustion? I've hit it. There has just been so much to do and so much going on. Sunday I drove all the way to Collegedale, saw as many people as I could, went to a wedding, and drove Ross Knight back so he could be here for RA week. We got back at about 9:30 and at 10 Sharon and I had a dean's meeting for an hour.

Today I've tried to get some things done in the appt. My body wouldn't let me sleep this morning despite how tired I am/was (probably all this moving and changing of beds) so I got up and did a bit more unpacking. Then its been working all day. I got a chance to go grocery shopping tho. We've been having a lot of fun with the RA's. We did an exercise where we split them up into three groups and they had to build paper airplanes to Dean Hector's specifications and the team with the most won. Problem was that there was quality control (Josh and I) who inspected the planes and would rip them up when they weren't absolutely perfect. Ross would just hand his over to me and tell me to rip it up everytime I walked by at the end. :) He knew what was coming. We ended up pullng out some great lessons but I just had a ton of fun with it.

At lunch the Principal took us to lunch at Asiana, one of the best places in the world to eat. Well it was when I could still eat there. :) Julian got on this 23 kick from the movie and we spent the entire time looking for ways to come up with 23 because apparently it's everywhere. They even got the poor waitress involved. It' was pretty hilarious tho. Rick (the principal) got the lucky number 23 on his fortune cookie so they are say that he's all evil yahda yahda. Yes, I'm back in highschool.

Then we got the task of cleaning the dorm. It's in poor shape. I don't think a lot of the girls cleaned before they left last year. Plus all the remodeling going on in the bathrooms, which are fairly new but they were poorly made in the first place. Sad really.

Rosa (my housemate) and I did a little bit of shopping for some house supplies we needed. It's SOOOO expensive so start an appt. I feel like I'm just watching money fly out the window. It's depressing really. One thing I splurged a tad and got was a foam thing for my mattress. They are terrible here, like sleeping on rocks and my back doesn't appreciate it so I needed to get them some help. Plus $20 wasn't a bad price for memory foam I thought. I probably scared Rosa with... well just being me. I can't think straight I'm so tired, which mirrored my driving.

Needless to say, the appt in inching along in any spare moment I have. I so need to have about 3 hours in here but I'm just so busy!!! I haven't even really had time to eat, or the energy to cook, so I'm going on somewhat of a fast. It's been nice actually. I'm sure once this appt is done and stops eating up every spare moment I will get some time to just sit and watch my cable TV that we aquired today. But in the mean time, a bullet in the head would be quite nice.

You know for how busy I am, Tanya posted ablog today in which she explained that she will be teaching 7 different classes plus coaching a volleyball team. Can you imagine? that's 7 different lesson plans, in all subjects, one of them being physical science!!!! They are supposed to have 100 staff and only have 55 I think is what she said. God be with her! If you want to read her blog there's a link to it on the right.

Once I get this place together I'll post pictures. But don't expect them too terribly soon.

Dean's Diaries

So apparently I'm a dean now... Amazing really.

Mom and I drove up with all of my stuff on Tuesday, did some shopping and then she drove back Wednesday morning. I had the pleasure of being in staff meetings most of the day. It's been interesting getting to know the staff on a different level, seeing how much they really do care about the students and that they are actually in touch with what the students want and need. As a student, who knew??? They've been having fun with me and Rosa (another task force that also graduated from Pisgah... you'll be hearing about her a lot I'm sure since she's also my house mate.) trying to get us to call them by their first names. I'm getting better, but I have a long way to go.

As yet I haven't been able to move into my appartment. Jason and Heather were unable to get moved into their house because of the carpeting company. I've spent a lot of time helping Heather with the moving process. Last night we cleaned for a good 4 or 5 hours. Somehow her freezer got shut before it had completely dethawed, and unfortunately this meant that the entire thing was covered in mold. Jason was a pal and cleaned it up for us... Our Knight in shining armor. We had a lot of fun catching up and just plain talking. She was my assistant dean my sophomore year here.

We haven't worked together too much yet but, I think Dean Sharon and I will get a long really well. Her one year old daughter, Samantha, LOVES my keys and my cell phone. I walk into the office and get attacked until I give them to her. :)

Tonight I get the dorm( aka: dean on duty), all to myself. All withstanding I really have no idea who the girls are that are here right now and what their schedule is, but I'm sure I'll learn fast! I've met a few of the girls. I remember being here and meeting my assistant dean and what I thought about the meeting etc. I keep thinking "they must be thinking that about me too!" not sure what I think about that, other then this is SOOO odd!!!
