For The Love Of All Things UNstressful

In and effort to de stress today I thought it might be a good idea to take Ellen (who's here for the weekend) and Tanya out to one of our favorite Chinese restaurants. She's been working on the venue, that debuts this weekend, and hasn't had much breathing time. This however turned out to be the worst idea for relaxing that I have ever had.

We had between 12 and 1 o'clock. Keep this in mind or nothing that follows will make sense.

I get a phone call from stressed Tanya at 12. She's quickly running out of time before she has to be on a movie shoot at one. I told her we could forget lunch but this, to her, was unthinkable. So after doing some running around with her we finally leave at about 12:30. I had grabbed a trusty menu from the girls dorm lobby (yes it is a Southern favorite as well) and had called in the order. Well, more like fought with the person on the other line who got completely stuck on the words ADD TOFU!

When we arrived they hadn't heard of us, except we didn't figure this out until we had sat there for 10 minutes. It's now ten til one. No food. We're a bit upset. So they apologize and give us some vittles as fast as possible. We start scarfing it down in between phone calls. Tanya's trying to work out me picking up lights for the venue. We have to get them by 1:15. And then I get the phone call from and angry Asian lady. "you're order is ready!??!? HELLO! are you going to come get it?" I had ordered from another restaurant. Shoot me in the head and call me a retard. Not feeling that it was right to cancel the order, I jumped in the car at 12:55.

Suddenly Sparky the four cylinder became Rambo the race car...only with four cylinders... But he put out a valiant effort UNTIL I got stuck behind someone who insisted on going 20 under. Picture me screaming in desperation, poor Sparky's steering wheel getting the brunt of the fight.

After paying for the food, angry lady informs me she'd given away part of my food so I'd have to wait. SPARE ME! it's one o'clock, Tanya's late, I'm gonna die.

At 1:17 I pull back into the first restaurant grab the girls and crawl back to Southern through the mobs of veggie food lovers that are hitting up the VM. We've passed our deadline for the lights we can't find the people we were trying to get a hold of and I now have TONS of Chinese food and quite a bit less money in my pocket.

To make a long story short, this kind of activity continued throughout the rest of the afternoon. Yes relaxation was a TOTAL NEGATOR... Oh for the love of all things good. The world is against me, I just know it

Van Gogh Proteges

Well thanks to the fact that my camera hasn't been working and then Grace's dying I don't have the pictures of some of my birthday weekend. There are a few on Jaclyn's blog.

It was another memorable birthday. Started on Thursday evening when my girlfriends took me to me an expensive restaurant and ended Monday night when "the family" had me over for some more ice cream pie. Mom and Dad came up. They haven't been around for my birthday probably since I turned 16? so it was nice.

I'm not a teenager anymore. Kinda scary really. The teens were always where it was at. You were allowed to act stupid cause most teenagers did. Comes with the job. In the movies, the cool people were in high school. I remember wanting to be them so badly and now I'm older then them!!! what in the world! Now I really have to be an adult. How boring. What I have to look forward to: bills and big decisions. Yeah I know that some of you are thinking " just wait until you turn 40" but this is my current personal crisis. :) But really I love this stage of life. Much more then high school. I love the independence, being at Southern, and even the responsibility occasionally. Anyway there's my two cents you didn't really want.

On to something more interesting... Me, Grace, and Tanya went to Clay and Stitches to paint some pottery on my birthday... It's turned out to be quite famous.

For those of you that don't know I happen to like SOME of Van Gogh's paintings, Starry Night being one of my favorite. It's hard to paint that kind of a painting on pottery because you have to usually do three coats of paint and you couldn't really tell where each color was to do another coat so...We made it a little more abstract then even the original but I think it does it justice.

Being Administrative

February means Ad Staff planning weekend again. In the 10 minutes I had to make a half mile walk from Brock and get packed My camera didn't manage to make it into my suitcase but Grace snapped a few. And in the interest of you knowing what I did this weekend I'm allowing you to see such horrific pictures of myself.

We all stayed at the Faber's house. They have some amazing couches which we took advantage of after our first meeting of the weekend. Nothing like a couch, a warm fire, and well the guys were alright too I guess. :) Behind me Glenn is eating all of the plums in hopes of finding a good one. Or so he says. Someday I'll forgive him for that.

When I walked in the house the three guys had these swords. I knew I was back at NOSOCA with all the toys. They would put cups in the holes then drink out of them like that. They also worked up a nice routine with them. Since they made noise they made it look like the three of them were hitting an imaginary ball around the living room. What's sad is it was actually mesmerizing.

We took the pontoon boat out for sunset and sundown worship, which was nice...

Except this is Glenn and I just before we froze to death.

Where's my spoonful of sugar?

Do you ever have those days where EVERYTHING goes wrong. well I've had two of them, one being the more prevelant.

After a nice dose of Frank (that's frank SINATRA for you quickly spinning minds. and I WOULD marry him except we have a small problem in that he's...well...dead) I was in a superlarific mood until about 12 o'clock when sitting at work all of the sudden my cell phone, which was set on silent, yells "YOU HAVE A TEXT MESSAGE! which means somebody doesn't think you're worth the minutes." Not the best thing to happen in the Vice Presidents/Presidents office.Yeah so my cell phone's messed up.

Then came the Dr's appointment. I have to get approval to go overseas next year which meant opening up the file again. We're back to "I don't know what you have, but it's not what the other doctor said." So we get to get more tests, drugs, and see more doctors all for the love of spain. Someday I'll think it's worth it. Right now I'm totally ticked.

My computer got itself a virus so I took that in, only to discover that I had left a homework assignment and a 5 page double spaced paper for my Social Work application on it. I had to redo the assigment, except without the aid of my computer, and got the paper back just in time today. Only now I have to reload everything back on to the computer cause they wiped it out.

I spent two hours reading a chapter only to find out that it was the wrong one and I had a quiz and a journal report due on it the next day so I got to spend another 2 hours reading the right one.

I could continue but I think you get the idea. Finally I just ended up standing in the shower for 20 minutes despising the world. My doctor say's I'm too perfectionistic and I need to not worry so much about my grades. HA! that's funny. People say I should start saying no and then I wouldn't be stressed. HA! probably a good idea. However even if I had done these things they don't take into account that the world has been against me this week! What did I do to offend it? Maybe it's just America.. Maybe I should leave. Oh wait, spain is what started a lot of this mess in the first place. Good gravy. Why wasn't I born a big fat cat?
